Helping Hands | Saint Theodore's Episcopal Church | www.sainttheodores.com

Helping Hands

Our second Saturday for the year of volunteer scheduling: August 21, 2010.

We will need the usual helpers -- some at the back door both morning and afternoon;
cashiers and baggers (2 of each) from noon to 4 p.m.; someone at the jewelry counter in the afternoon and one or two to work the floor in the afternoon.

We need new people to volunteer for this effort.  The “regulars” may not always be available.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the narthex by mid-July.  Please keep this day in mind.

Thank you again for your generous offerings of canned goods.

It’s the canned meats, soups, a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, sauces, etc. that are very much needed in the community.  Along with the dried beans, cereals, macaroni & cheese, etc., we delivered 300 lbs. of food in support of the Helping Hands food program.

To all of you . . . Thank You!!
Lee Clark & Jerry Smith

United Thank Offering | Saint Theodore's Episcopal Church | www.sainttheodores.com

You may bring your offering any time.

To help the treasurer, please “count your blessings” and bring either a check made out to St. Theodore’s with UTO on the memo line or replace coins with paper currency. That way you can also keep your blue box and continue to fill it with your offerings as you give thanks to God.

Shoebox Ministry | Saint Theodore's Episcopal Church | www.sainttheodores.com

There is a box on top of the coat rack in the narthex hallway where we collect toiletries and various personal grooming items.  Sample sizes and hotel soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. are always welcome.

The Methodist women collect from other churches as well, and fill shoe boxes according to the need -- male, female or children.  The boxes are then given to shelters or other needy people in our area. These personal hygiene items are so important to promote good health and self- image.

Thank you for your generosity and caring.  If you have any questions about this ministry, call Rose Martin.

Pill Ministry | Saint Theodore's Episcopal Church | www.sainttheodores.com

Pill Box Ministry
St. Theodore’s participation in the Pill Box Ministry began in the fall of 2008 and is still going strong.

St. Anne's Guild is joining St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fayetteville,
in sponsoring a Pill Bottle Ministry.

The used containers will benefit those less fortunate in Africa and help us recycle those brown plastic
pill bottles the recycling centers do not accept.

Doctors and nurses in Africa don't have containers to send home medicine with their patients.  Often the medicine is sent home in newspaper.  This ministry asks all of us to wash our old pill containers and lids (any size), and remove the labels.  “Goo Gone” is a great product to remove any sticky residue from stubborn labels.

Please save your pill bottles and place them in the brown basket in the Narthex.

Episcopal Relief & Development | Saint Theodore's Episcopal Church | www.sainttheodores.comThe ERD is asking for contributions to aid those in need on the Gulf Coast/South Texas.

Checks should be made to St. Theodore’s with ERD Hurricane Relief on the memo line at the lower left. If you wish to contribute cash, we have envelopes at the church for you to use. The treasurer will record your contributions on your record and forward the money immediately to the National Church office.

Prison Ministry | Saint Theodore's Episcopal Church | www.sainttheodores.com

Would you like to join me in ministering to inmates in one of our state's correctional institutions approximately once every six weeks?

The Northwest Convocation, under the leadership of St. Paul's in Fayetteville, has begun an exciting ministry in the Women's Correctional Unit in Fayetteville.

Jesus included the visitation of those in prison in the list of things we need to do. We arrive at the unit by 5:30 p.m. on a Sunday evening, set up one of the recreational areas for a service and celebrate the Holy Eucharist with the inmates.

The women read all of the lessons and the Prayers of the People. We provide a priest, chalice bearers, music support and our presence. There is a required training by the Security Office and the Chaplain of the unit plus some training time with me. Say your prayers, and if you feel you are called to this ministry, please let me know.  Fr. Ken
