WHAT’S OK TO GO IN A RECYCLING BIN AND WHAT ISN’T?
Paper:
OK - Newspapers, flyers, magazines, sheet paper(even ones with staples) and envelopes.
NOT RECYCLABLE – Paper items that are greasy or dirty are not to be placed in the recycle bin. Other paper items to avoid recycling are wax paper, sticker paper, photo paper, metallic wrappers, or diapers.
Cardboard:
OK – Cereal boxes, frozen food boxes, laundry soap boxes, shoe boxes, and cardboard boxes as long as separate pieces are flattened. Toilet paper rolls, file folders, paper bags, calendars, and books can be recycled. You can also recycle milk cartons with the plastic lids and juice boxes.
Glass:
OK - Glass bottles and glass containers of any shape or color.
NOT RECYCLABLE – Drinking glasses or pieces of flat glass from windows or mirrors.
Metal:
OK - Clean cans, metal lids and screw tops, clothes hangers, pop cans
NOT RECYCLABLE – Paint cans, pesticide cans, or aerosol cans
Plastic:
OK - Almost all liquid containers including rinsed out shampoo or laundry soap containers as well as yogurt, margarine, etc. containers and lids. Soft plastic shopping bags, dry cleaning bags, rinsed bread and pastry bags and bags that had food in them can be recycled as long as they are cleaned.
The recycle bins are in place at Church beneath the Bulletin Board, so if you do not have a way to recycle at home, please use them!
