Brown Bag Book & Bible Study Our Motto is "Lunch, Laugh, & Learn"
Members bring a lunch and meet every Tuesday at 11:30 AM in the Gathering Room. At 12 Noon we view a recorded lecture, usually one of the classes from the Teaching Company. Our discussion of the lecture usually ends around 1:00 PM.
After the lecture we have a discussion led by a volunteer member. Coming to the lectures doesn't meant that a member is obliged to take a turn being a discussion leader!
Lunch is a social time and always ends up with a piece or two of the Hillyers' store of chocolate; discussion time is more serious.
What we are studying:
We will finish up "The Lives of Great Christians." There are three lectures left, "From Slavery to Martin Luther King," "Liberation Theology," and "Defining the Christian Life."
Our next series will be "The Epic of Eden: A Christian Entry into the Old Testament." the DVD lectures are by Sandra Richter, Ph.D from Harvard, and a Professor of the Old Testament at Wheaton College. The series is based upon her book of the same title. Don't let her credentials mislead you; these lectures are meant to appeal to any interested Christian group.
