We are blessed with many generous parishioners who offer to host our weekly fellowship gatherings after our 10:30 AM service. We thought many will enjoy recipes of some of the goodies that have become favorites over the years. Our first recipe contributor is Terry Anderson, a long-time church member and volunteer. When asked for the recipe, Terry replied that "this is an easy recipe that anyone can make." Certainly this is the type of recipe that we all desire! Please try this for your next event:
SOPAPILLA CHEESECAKE BARS
2 (8 ounce) cream cheese softened
1 ¼ sticks butter (10 tbs) softened and divided
1 ½ cups granulated sugar divided
2 tsp vanilla divided
2 8ounce packages refrigerated crescent dinner rools
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In 9 x 13 pan spray with Pam
Combine cream cheese and 4 tbs butter.
Beat on medium speed until smooth and creamy
Gradually beat in 1 cup of sugar and 1 tsp vanilla
Unroll 1 package of crescent rolls and place in bottom of pan (do not separate rolls) Spread dough to edges of pan, pressing to seal perforations.
Spread cream cheese mixture in even layer over the crescent dough.
Unroll remaining package of crescent rolls and place on top of cream cheese layer.
In small sauce pan (or in microwave) melt remaining 6 tbs butter. Stir in remaining ½ cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla and the cinnamon.
Stir until dissolved and spread evenly over top of crescent roll layer.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until top is slightly puffed and golden brown.
Cool before cutting.
