Children's Chapel and Christian Education

Children's Chapel and Christian Education

Every Sunday, 9:15 AM - 10:20 AM

Sunday, September 10th, from 9:15-10:15 will be the first day of the Sunday School year at St. Theodore’s! We would like to thank all of the new and returning Sunday School teachers volunteering and please know that without you this year and all it’s exciting offerings would not be possible. Parents: please take note of the new age groupings and offerings below:

Nursery: Ages 0-3yrs
Godly Play I: Ages 3 yrs old- Kindergarten; Kay Roe and Linda Lawhon
Godly Play II: Grades 1st - 3rd; Ann Bryson and Casey Westling

What is Godly Play?

Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play.

PrEYC: Grades 4th-6th; Pam Throne, Andrea Milam and Emily Vickers
Introducing a new and fun Christian education program that will feed the future of our EYC. PrEYC (pre-yc) will have a year long series of “The Gospel According To…” With themes on Dr. Seuss, Pixar and if time allows, Harry Potter, Super Heroes, and Star Wars, this age group is sure to find that The Gospel is present in more places than in Church on Sundays. But rather, it happens in our everyday lives.

Breakfast Club - Grades 7th - 12th; Elwin Roe, Ivee Lowry and Jeff Goodrich
Another new and amazing offering this year is Breakfast Club. Youth will enjoy FOOD and community while engaging in conversation about questions of faith, spirituality and religion. The curriculum will be comprised of video series, discussion and straightforward talk about God. This age group will be reclaiming the Harris Annex downstairs for Sunday School and EYC and making it their own.

Beginning Sunday, August 21st, during the 10:30 service children ages 4yrs-8yrs old will have the opportunity to enjoy a new liturgically based curriculum for Children’s Chapel called “Creative Ideas for Children’s Worship” by Sarah Lenton. This amazing curriculum is based on the Revised Common Lectionary and will follow our church worship readings. Through fun ideas, children will encounter a real aspect of the Christian faith focused on a theme from each Sunday’s Gospel. There is a GREAT group of volunteers leading Children’s Chapel this year: Sarah Nelson, Blair Cromwell, Deanna Oxner, Sharon Zeeck, Angie Calix, Kay Roe and Linda Lawhon.
